A group has recently been
set up to look at the way the trust can learn from complaints, adverse
incidents, PALS enquires and claims. Alan Lofthouse has been nominated as
Unison’s representative on this group and he needs help from our members to
fulfil this role.
Many staff have stories
about their treatment by the trust following a complaint or investigation and
these vary from exemplary to appalling. We need to hear about your experiences,
good and bad, so that we can gain valuable learning from them.
This is all aimed at
improving the process for staff and in doing so create a culture of openness and
honesty that will benefit the trust. There is a document on the trust intranet
called “Guidance for staff involved in Adverse Incidents, Complaints or Claims”
which may useful if you are currently going through this experience.
Don’t forget to ask your
local Unison rep for advice. If you would like to help and feel you have an
experience you can share, please contact Alan Lofthouse by clicking
