Dorset Meetings Gather Views

Unison reps in the East of the trust have reported an increase in concerns and problems from members recently, along with reports of generally low morale among colleagues.

In response to this, Unison branch officials decided to urgently hold a day of open meetings for all to attend.

The meetings will took place on Monday 19th January.

In the morning, Unison officials met with members at Weymouth ambulance Station, before being joined by Ian Hopkins, branch secretary, for a further meeting in the afternoon at Poole ambulance Station.

The meetings encouraged open and frank discussion. This was a chance for members to engage with the union face-to-face on any issue that is affecting them.

There was productive discussion about a range of topics, but the main concerns raised were the same across both areas: uncertainty over rota changes and meal break arrangements, along with reports of stress caused by workload and standby arrangements.

Unison can assure its members that these concerns have now be taken forward to management. A full copy of the report which arose from the meetings and was presented to the trust can be viewed HERE.
